Rise Up Diaries ~ 8th July 2019

Last episode: Rise Up Diaries ~ weekend roundup

Today was a rather uneventful day. I have mostly been reading and sleeping in the sun. I do get a tan very easy but to be honest I have spent most of my time inside so for this year. Sweden haven’t had a very good summer in accord to weather. And with my chronic pain I get pain easy from being in the cold. So even if it’s just a little bit chilly it gets to me and I tense enough to make it difficult for me.

I might also be a bit of a wuss when it comes to cold weather. But today the sun was out enough for me to even enjoy it. So I decided to take my chance and stay in the warm sun for a bit and read.

Later during the day my dad came to me and asked if I wanted to go on a football game. Anyone who knows me know I hate football. My both brothers was in teams when we were kids and that meant a lot of games which I had to go an watch. Wasn’t a lot of fun for me if I shall be super honest. Some games I did go to on my own because I was offered candy but I do remember them all being extremely slow and boring. Recently I don’t mind football. I don’t know if its because my British boyfriend is a huge fan and also a former pro player himself or if I just is more open now.

I myself prefer and probably always will prefer hockey. When I told my boyfriend this he didn’t understand why. I later on understood it was because England suck at hockey and he haven’t seen or been to a really good game. It probably is like that with everything. You cant judge something until you have experienced it for real.

But when my dad came to me with this question I have him a very hesitant “i don’t know”. Later on I heard him call my brother asking if he also wanted to go and if he was going to book a ticket for him as well because even I was going. I didn’t say anything and thought “hey! I might get a hot-dog and its nice weather so some more sun wouldn’t hurt”.

Mom made a lovely dinner for us before we went to the game. It was a self smoked char.

When we got to the game both side of the teams cheering fan (with drums and everything) was quite. I later found out they was making a protest against the police violence etc by having 20 min of quite. Which I found very respectable. After those 20 min was done the other team light up huge fires and I felt a rather disappointment. I’m happy it wasn’t from the team we cheered on.

The game was rather slow and ended 1-1. My brother, who is an educated football judge and my parents who is extreme fans would probably have more to say. And maybe so would I if it been hockey and I knew more about the sport xD

17th August the hockey season starts and I’m reconsidering getting a season card. After moving away 5 years ago I haven’t seen one game from my favorite hockey team and it been heartbreaking having to watch the score online (they aren’t so good they are on the TV yet). Sitting home with all my support clothes, tea mugs and hats cheering them on from afar.

Maybe I can do a proper introduction to my love for hockey, how it started, what teams I enjoy etc. I have many nice memories with hockey and I love talking about them a lot.

I hope your Monday have been just as nice as mine.

Did you do anything fun?

What is you favorite sport to watch and do you have a special team in your heart?

Much love,

Elin

I like hockey better too, which is weird cause Texans love their football! That dinner looks very nice.
I have not had a good day, I’ve got a very painful UTI but went to the doctor and medication, so hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow 😊 I’m glad you got to experience a nice, warm day. Cold makes me hurt too!

I can’t stand football either! My favourite sport is NASCAR, and I’ve followed it since 1990 when I saw the movie “Days of Thunder” (my joint favourite movie of all time alongside “Top Gun”).

Because I’m in England it wasn’t on TV here so I used to listen via the radio. When we finally got the Internet around the year 2000 I could follow a bit more but it was a lot easier when we got satellite TV in 2010 and one of the channels was broadcasting the Cup series 🙂

My driver was Jeff Gordon from 1992, but he retired and Chase Elliott took over his ride. I’d followed Chase as he came up through the Xfinity series and he soon became my driver. I run a fan Twitter and FB group called Alan Gustafson Fans, Alan is Chase’s crew chief 🙂 It’s a lot of fun live Tweeting during the race every weekend and I’ve made some amazing friends Stateside.

Hello from Chicago, Elin, where in one month the Chicago Bears begin their American-style football season. That’s right, Mid-August until late December. So we fans get to roast in the August summer heat in the open stadium, and freeze to death in winter. Oh, the stadium called Soldier Field, lies directly next to Lake Michigan, which cools us down in the summer, but chills us to the bone when the wind blows in winter. And it also provides us with lake-effect snowfall when the wind blows. Well, here’s to a fun season for all of us hockey/football fans.

Reading about your physical condition, ever thought of moving ot a warmer climate? My study was the reason to move from the Netherlands (country of origin) to California – and oh how I love the weather here!
With hockey, my guess is you mean field hockey? In the USA they only have ice hockey (as far as I’ve seen).
Love salmon! Try it next time on the BBQ (wrapped in oil and in aluminum foil for a few minutes, and eat together with sliced red onion, and peaches and cubed potatoes (all wrapped separate in aluminum foil, because they all have different cooking times) – delicious! Takes some work the first time, but once you get the hang of it, hubby does it without my help, lol.
    have a great day! Jesh
    PS Thanks for your like!

no i mean ice hockey ^^ thought i didnt need to specify what kind of hockey considering its sweden and we are all about ice and snow. I dont mind the climate. i hate warm weather more than cold xD in the cold you can put more clothes on. when its warm you cant take your skin off xD

it would probebly be better for my condition. but sweden is a lovely country ^^

True about cold and warm climate, but the Netherlands is my country of origin and when I left a few decades ago, there was only field hockey in Holland (the only team sports I like). In the USA field hockey does not exist.
Interesting to hear the opinion of a Swede:)
