Rise Up Diaries ~ 21 July 2019

I know, once again I haven’t been very active. But I been working on something really interesting! So I haven’t been laying around all lazy doing nothing.

I been both working on my Bullet journal, I’m rather happy so far! I don’t have the right stickers or decoration to make it work for my theme. But I’m looking into it. So I wont share any pictures yet. You can have a smaller sneak peak if you follow my Instagram at: My Blog instagram

Then I been writing tons of short stories, erotic ones (that’s the one I’m writing. I know the genre can be rather embarrassing for some to read about or talk about but I sure love it). I’m working up a short stories bank so I later this autumn can publish one a week on amazon. I’m also trying to make the book cover match so you can tell it’s from the same author.

Lastly I came to the conclusion I wanted to meet new people and I wanted to be more creative. So I came across a Swedish Instagramer who do snail mails, very decorated once. And she sends (depending on the person she is sending to) different goodies (stickers, bookmarks, cards, photos, washi tapes etc.) And of course writes long letters.

When I was younger I did have a pen pal. Or a couple I think but never more than one at the time. But they all stopped replying. I’m a person who loves words! I’m very good with words, which is also why I enjoy writing and coming up with stories. I can’t say I am as good in English or other languages as in Swedish of course. But I can write LONG letters.

So I think the once I had, who did it more for fun, just got sick of all the reading and me trying to be very extra and creative. It isn’t always a good thing I realized. Fail after fail I couldn’t be bothersome to try again so i put it on hold and just decided I was special and it would be hard to find someone as in love with handwritten letters and the charm of getting more things than bills. (this was of course on the time when internet wasn’t such a big thing).

Today there is tons on websites and not to speak of Facebook groups and Instagram hashtags. It’s so easy to find like minded people no matter what interest you have.

But All in all I found four girls roughly my age that I will start sending letters to. Three of them live in U.S.A. and the fourth one is from Japan. I haven’t asked them yet if they are okey with me posting pictures of their letters or talking about their names. So I will wait to tell you more about them.

I will start with the three people from U.S.A and send them a letter and the girl from Japan was very eager to start and wanted to go first. I’m really excited about this and I hope I can share some lovely things. I will of course not show the actual letters considering its a friendship between us. But if they are as extra as me they might paint the letters and decorate it pretty.

I'm a former Swimmer, after getting nerve damage in my jaw I started coaching instead while going to the university. I studied Librarianship and information science.     Good to see you back.

    I’ve had a few penpals. These days though, most of my letter writing is done by e-mail with friends around the world. I have horrible handwriting so I don’t think I’d handwrite letters again. From time to time I do send letters in the mail along with cards.

    Are any of your stories already published? I’d like to read them.

      They were, or I had like 3 up that did sell well. But I wasn’t super happy with them and wanted to perfect them and make the book covers to match a bit more, so I took them down for now. Maybe I’m a bit to overthinking it. But I think branding it could be good to start earlier.

      But as soon as I will start publishing again I will write about it here with links ofc 🙂

      I bet your handwriting isn’t that bad 😀 Mine is a bit rusty as well so we will see what ppl think about it.

        There’s some truth to it. Most of my colleagues apart from some exceptions, all have poor handwriting.

        These days, I prefer to type so no one can be confused about what I’m writing in a report or a prescription.

      I think the best way to start is to find a person that you think you would like sending letters to. 🙂 I found my through an instagram search.

      Then its always good to ask the person you are sending to what kind of letters it should be: just letters or if you should include goodies. Or If it should be bigger packages even.

      Maybe even discuss the style: I know Kpop is a big thing now in the letter community. But You also have cute japanese style, vintage.

    i had a friend in jail once lol. we’d write letters and then eventually i forgot lol.
    and my dad was in the navy so when i was a kid we’d write letters to each other.

    as of now.. I’m writing these letters to my exes and then i pretty constantly write letters to myself in my jounral <3<3

      Im way to scared of writing to ppl in prision. I see to many scary movies for me not to be nervous about it and handing out my address. :/

      But goods luck to you if you try it out 🙂 I have heard many who do it and enjoy it 😀

    I used to have a penpal, but she stopped replying. While I love the idea of literally writing letters, I am more likely to email a lengthy reply instead! ☺

    I’m also a fan of snail mail. I’m older (65) and when I was in elementary school I had a few pen pals but the exchange of letters didn’t last long.
    For many years I wrote a weekly letter to 2 of my older aunts and then wrote more often to my sister in law the last year of her life as she was battling cancer. Sometimes I used plain paper and sometimes I made pretty cards. All three have passed on. Now I write snail letters to 2 of my friends who also write me back. I now send a weekly card or note to my niece (daughter of Sister in law).

    I love the idea of having a pen pal, but what I’m really looking for is someone to write letters to my dad. He is home bound and although my oldest son lives with him, he has to work, so Dad spends lots of time alone. Most of what he gets in the mail is junk or bills. Plus, he would not be able to write back because he has Parkinson’s and a very bad tremor in his right hand. Do you know any programs that would send him letters, just to brighten his day with no expectations of word back? Or, if he got one, maybe I could thank the person and ask them to keep it up. (I live close but I am down for 6-8 weeks. I send him emails and pictures sometimes, but I bet he would like hand written letters from people all over the world.)

      I know there is tons of websites out there where you could like find pen pals. But I also know that if you dont send back it would give you like a warning. So It could be hard i guess. So it best would be to see if you could find someone you would know that could take it ona nd send somet hings that wouldnt mind not getting answers back 🙂 I learned there is tons of nice ppl out there. Instagram have the hashtag #penpalwanted and is amazing if you are looking for someone 🙂

    I was in a pen-pal club when I was a kid and it was so much fun. Now I still write to my cousin in MA (my Dad’s older cousin) she is quite a bit older but we have so much in common. We do handwritten letters and pictures. We tried email for a while, but for our special relationship it was not the same, so we went back to handwritten letters. I love the charm of getting and sending hand-written mail.

    I love writing letters, as a child I used to write letters to my friends, but it soon stopped because they weren’t interested in it. Sometimes I just get the urge to write someone a letter you know and I would write letter to that person and then never sends it to them. When you get this letter that is personally written, it’s just an another level of feeling and I just love it!

    Back in the days, I use to write letters to friends and was fun.
    Like you, most of them stop writing letters to me.
    According to them – they much prefer digital e-mail.
    It saddens me…but that’s the world we live in.
    And even if someone would want to write me a letter;
    I’ll get flash backs of that moment when those friends told me they don’t write letters anymore.

    Cards? That’s interesting. I’ve gotten birthday invites but that’s just family.
    But as friends? Never. Now, that I think about it.
    Digital is the way today I guess.

    As for the concept of pen pals? Hopefully one day I get to have a pen pal.
    Not right now…but in the future.

      I send soooo many holiday cards every year its stupid XD I think its also all about findinf the right ppl toi write with. Find someone who do like the letter writing etc. I have myself lost pen pals who realize they dont like writing letters. Mostly its cuz they dont like their own handwriting or that they think it takes way to long. 🙂

    So I’m a little late in replying to this, but yes, I have penpals! I actually started when I was a child. I think I was about 8 or 9 and my parents signed me up with Hola! through Royal Mail (our postal service here in England). My penpals name was Veera and he lived in India, he was a couple of years older than me. We’re still in touch today, although now on Facebook 🙂

    I also write US inmates and have done since 2003 and, more recently, in 2016 I started writing US soldiers. Quite a contrast! But both are immensely rewarding.

    I just reconnected with my childhood penpal (we exchanged letters for almost 20 years from first grade through after college!). I love cards and snail mail, but at times like this am thankful for the digital mediums to help me reconnect.
