About me

Welcome,

To my corner of the blog world. My name is Elin and I’m really thrilled you are here.

I’m a former Swimming pro, after getting nerve damage in my jaw I started coaching instead. After a few years of doing this, I became and librarian. This was the best job in the world and I loved it.

At age 26 I realized I was mentally bullied by my closest boss and I decided I was at the lowest point in my life. I started hating myself and everything I did felt like a failure. So I took the big decision to quit my job.

While quitting my job I felt freedom but it only lasted a few hours. Anxiety from my parents hit me hard; worrying about my future and my pension. I was a girl with a plan, I knew what I wanted and I always succeeded in getting it. Now everything was different.

Now I stood without a job, I was single (or at least in a complicated relationship with a man from England) and I had no idea what to do. I moved back to my parents which didn’t spike the confidence in me either. Suddenly my little brother got married before me, a guy who didn’t believe in marriage got it before me who planned it in detail since i was 5.

I created Rise Up Diaries as a way to daily log everything I did. But also get a reason to leave my self-pity and patheticness behind in my bed. I needed a reason to leave the house and to see the world and to find happiness again.

Oh wow, 15 languages, that’s awesome! I like to call myself a polyglot, but I definitely don’t know that many, at least not fluently and not at this point. I only speak Polish and Welsh besides English and Swedish. I am from Poland. What languages do you know? ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your thinking hairdo. I used to have a silly hat and when I wore it, my husband was not allowed to disturb me no matter what he thought I was not doing. (sitting still and looking at something is not always “nothing”)

Thank you so much for visiting my little space of Blog Universe! I am so happy you did, because I discovered yours! I also love 50s style dresses.
I am so sorry that you are currently out of sorts… I hope your Dad gets better quickly and that England spits that lovely boy of yours back to Sweden soon. As for teal, brown and orange? Yes please ๐Ÿ™‚

I like your site and yes sewing is fun! I sewed my first Simplicity dress in 1972. It was sleeveless, had a scoop neckline, two darts in the front and back, and a long zipper in the back. Cost all of $5.00 to make. Fast forward: March 2018 while shopping with two of my sisters, I saw the same exact dress style on a mannequin. The cost… $175.00. Whoa horsey! When I told my sisters about my sewing the same dress, they chuckled. I’ve also taken sewing design classes and designed a few outfits from scratch, but I no longer sew because it’s a little on the pricey side.

I dont ^^ Nothing I have considered to be honest ^^ I feel like I can make things for me because I know myself. But to make things for others. That scares me. Maybe in the future ๐Ÿ™‚

Youโ€™re very talkative for a librarian… could you tone it down a bit?? Lol!! Jk! Iโ€™m John. I usually do random blog reading and came across yours! Very interesting material! Iโ€™m liking it!

Thanks for connecting to my blog! You live in Sweden, but are you a Swede? Love to see more of your work of costumes. I love certain movies, just for the old costumes! In the past I sewed much more, but now it’s for curtains and repairing things. Happy belated New Year:)
