To my corner of the blog world. My name is Elin and I’m really thrilled you are here — I think you and I are very alike. Do we both share the love for vintage and retro? Maybe you have a long distance relationship? Or do you just love blogging?
No matter the answer I think we will make great friends.
I’m a hobbyist seamstress and costume maker who has hopes to inspire others with my work. I make a lot of historically inspired things and ruffle dresses. This blog is a way of sharing my progress and my process through text and pictures but also give a glimpse into my daily life.
A bit more about me: I’m mostly self taught when it comes to sewing, I learn through trial and error. When I was a young kid my mom would make me amazing, princess like dresses for me. We even had matching dresses at some stage. So though my wonderful mom I learned almost everything I know today. Together we sewed my prom dress and many graduation dresses.
I live in Sweden with my British boyfriend who left his life in England for me. Together we have a cat named Sherlock Holmes who I wish was as smart as his name implies. My “real job” is as a librarian in a small town.
I have always loved vintage but haven’t worn it daily until this last year. My favorite era is 1940’s and 1950’s.
“life under the thinking tree”
Is a slogan that comes from a specific hairstyle I rock everytime i need to think, work or concentrate. You could say it looks like a little tree on the top of my head. So I called it just that; a thinking tree that grew all my thoughts and ideas into better ones.
If you have any questions or ideas on sewing projects I should try next comment. I will always try my hardest to answer all of them.
